Every Memorial Day we honor our fallen Veterans by posting a Flag during the Annual Memorial Day Services. A flag may be purchased from the Legion Club for $25.00.   Members of our  Post are also honored with Military Rites at their funeral.

We donate funds to many community and area service  projects in the Brunsville and LeMars Area.   We have also participated in sending high school aged men and women to the Iowa Boy's State and Iowa Girl's State Programs.   To help maintain the building and pay operating expenses the post holds a Pancake Breakfast on the second Sunday  each month from October thru April.   A remodel of the front bar area took place in 2007, and the dinning area of the hall in 2012.   The addition of a flag room to store the flags that are posted on Memorial Day was added in 2015.

In 2007 plans were proposed to erect a Memorial to Area Veterans.   The City of Brunsville donated the ground upon which the Memorial stands.   The project was funded by donations and grant money.   On Monday May 26.2008 the Memorial was unveiled  at the Annual Memorial Day Services.  The front center black stone etched with the word "Brunsville Area Veterans Memorial, Heeren-McHale-Wilkens Post 724.   Saluting those who proudly served."   On each side of an American Eagle are the six emblems of the Military Branches.  To the rear are two 8ft tall stones with the names and military branch served of area veterans.   Names may be added by contacting one of the Legion Members.

In 2013 a Son's of the American Legion received it's charter with 23 member.   The Son's of the American Legion are very active in local service projects and join in helping the Legion Post with many of it's activities.

The Heeren-McHale-Wilkens Post has a Reception/Dance Hall that is available for rent.   The Hall can seat up to 400 people.   There is a 20x30 wooden dance flor that is easy to dance on.   The hall has been used for numerous Wedding Receptions, Anniversary Receptions, Graduations, Class Reunions, Funeral Dinners, Annual Meeting Luncheons, Christmas & Halloween Parties plus numerous fundraising events.   See the Event and Contract Tab for more information.
